Premier League: Matchweek 4, Kit Review

Matchweek 4 is now completed with this weekend’s fixtures again being played over three days between Saturday 12th September and Monday 14th September, with European Fixtures and Carabao games coming before and after this round of games, the season is well and truly in full swing now.

We have 59 out of 60 Kits released so far… with just Ipswich Town to officially release their final Kit! See below details about Hull City’s and Chelsea’s 3rd Kit that was launched this week.

Kit Highlights

9 Teams have worn 3 different kits in their opening 4 games – Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brentford, Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Nottingham Forest, Sunderland.

With 5 of these using Home, Away and 3rd Kits (AVL, BRE, BHA, EVE, SUN).

Hull Cuty and Liverpool remain the only teams to wear just their Home Kit so far this season.

All teams have worn at least 2 Goalkeeper Kits, with teams in 3 Keeper looks in the 4 games so far (ARS, AVL, BOU, CHE, EVE, LIV, MCI, NEW).

Nottingham Forest wore their 3rd Kit in its default look with navy short and socks for the first time.

Brighton & Hove Albion wore their 3rd Kit for the first time, this is the first “new” 3rd Kit they have for 10 years, in this time they always used the previous seasons Away Kit as their 3rd Kit.

Arsenal wore their 3rd kit for the 2nd time (both of their away games so far), this time with alternative yellow socks.

Hull City broke their run of wearing the same kits (both outfield and goalkeeper) in all games when their goalkeeper wore an alternative kit for the first time this season, the pink kit was worn against Chelsea.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Coventry City and Brighton & Hove Albion, Brighton debuted their 3rd for this season, and the match up with the wonderful Coventry kit worked well.

Hull City launched their 3rd Kit for this season, with a look that is inspired by 1930s, including a club crest from this time. The kit was debuted in Carabao Cup game at Sunderland on 8th September.
