Premier League: Matchweek 3, Kit Review

Matchweek 3 is now completed with this weekend’s fixtures again being played over three days between Friday 4th September and Sunday 6th September and we are still seeing plenty of new kit looks in action and players representing new clubs after the transfer window closed last week.

The current Kit Overview for Premier League is below:

We have 57 out of 60 Kits released so far… with just 3 Teams left to officially release their final Kits!

Matchweek 3 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 41 (6 New Kits this weekend)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 40 (3 New Kits)

New Kits this Matchweek

As this was the third week of the season, there were plenty of new kits on view…

  • AFC Boournemouth – Away
  • Sunderland – 3rd with alternative gold socks
  • Crystal Palace – 3rd
  • Coventry City – Away with alternative navy shorts & socks
  • Aston Villa – 3rd with alternative white socks
  • Manchester United – Home with alternative white socks

Kit Highlights

Three teams have worn three kits in their opening three games, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Sunderland. Aston Villa and Sunderland have worn Home, Away and 3rd Kits in these games, with Manchester United in Home (Two Variations and 3rd).

Coventry City used their Away Kit for the first time and used alternative Navy Shorts and Socks for nice looking kit look.

Arsenal made it two home games in a row where they mix and match the Adidas logos in their kits, with the Home Kit in regular logo and Goalkeeper Kit in the Trefoil logo.

Hull City and Liverpool remain the only two teams to wear the same kit in their opening three games, however Hull continue to use just the one goalkeeper kit where Liverpool have now worn different goalkeeper looks in their three games.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Hull City and Aston Villa, Hull City in one of the kits of the season and Villa in a wonderful tri-colour looking 3rd kit look, mixing the sky blue, claret and white for this look.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 15 Home Kits, 2 Away and 3 Third Kit in action.

There was four Kit variations used in this Matchweek

  • Sunderland – 3rd with alternative gold socks
  • Coventry City – Away with alternative navy shorts & socks
  • Aston Villa – 3rd with alternative white socks
  • Manchester United – Home with alternative white socks

Kit Grid – Up to 7th August
