Kit Highlights

Five teams wore the same kit for Matchweek 2 as the opening fixtures of the season, AFC Bournemouth, Coventry City, Crystal Palace, Hull City and Liverpool, with Coventry City and Hull City playing each other.

There were even less Goalkeeper Kits seen over both weekend, with just Fulham, Hull City and Sunderland wearing the same keeper kit, this means Hull City are the only team to wear the same kits (outfield and goalkeeper) over the opening two games.

Brighton & Hove Albion gave us the first of what could be a number of mash ups this season with their Home and Away kits, wearing Away Kit with Home socks for a white / white / blue kit variation.

One thing we wanted to keep an eye on was the Liverpool goalkeeper sock situation, last week using white socks (alternative 3rd kit socks), this weekend’s Home game against Nottingham Forest saw a return to the standard emerald green socks.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United, the Newcastle United Away kit is a nice look this season, and worn with alternative white shorts gave us a nice white v navy balanced match up!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 12 Home Kits, 6 Away and 2 Third Kit in action.

There was four Kit variations used in this Matchweek

  • Nottingham Forest – 3rd with alternative white shorts & socks
  • Newcastle United – Away with alternative white shorts
  • Brighton & Hove Albion – Away with (blue) Home socks
  • Ipswich Town – Away with alternative “ecru” socks

Kit Grid – Up to 31st August

Kit News

There were four new Kit releases this week, with Everton, Liverpool, Manchester City and Nottingham Forest all launching their 3rd Kts for this season!

Chelsea have started each of the last three seasons with no front of shirt sponsorship before ending the season in the final weeks with different sponsors, this season it’ll be just one week with no sponsor as they annouce US Crypto Company Circle Internet Group, Inc as their primary sponsor this season. Nice to see the sponsor in yellow to match the detailing in their Home Shirt.
