Something new I want to start doing this season is a semi-regular look at the EFL and the Kit Usage within Championship, League One and League Two.
Click here to catch up with Volume Two
Welcome to Volume 3, we are looking at the kits worn between 7th October and Monday 2nd November
So far this season we have seen:
Championship – 85 Kits (+17 from Vol.2)
League One – 82 Kits (+17)
League Two – 70 Kits (+5)
Championship – Kit Overview
All 72 Kits have been released.

Total Kits Used
- Kits Worn in Total – 86
Kit Grid, up to 2nd November.

Kit Highlights
Queen’s Park Rangers head up The Championship in terms of Kit Variations, now having worn five kit looks so far this season (13 games), with eleven teams in four kit looks! QPR’s 5th kit look was their default Away Kit look worn at Southampton on 31st October.

Middlesbrough wore their 150th Anniversary Kit on 10th October at Home against Wolves. The blue was based on the colours worn by the club back in 1876.

The Kit also had a bespoke nameset which is something we have not seen in EFL for a significant time.

A team not are not known for changing away from their traditional look are Wolverhampton Wanderers, but during the past month they wore four different kit looks in four games, with both Home and Away kits worn with alternative shorts (Championship games between 6th September and 10th October).

Derby County were the final team in the Championship to wear a change kit, this was in their 10th League game of the season at QPR on 14th October.

League One – Kit Overview
All 72 Kits have now been released in League One.

Total Kits Used
- Kits Worn in Total – 82
Kit Grid, up to 2nd November

Kit Highlights
Burton Albion and Luton Town have both worn five different variations this season, the highest in League One.
Cambridge United are a team that have released a 4th Kit over the past few seasons, and their 4th Kit was worn in the previous month, the kit is inspired by the life and legacy of Cambridge icon Syd Barrett (songwriter, artist and founding member of Pink Floyd).

Cambridge United were one of four teams to wear four different kit looks in four games, with AFC Wimbledon, Burton Albion and Peterborough United, with alternative socks worn by both AFC Wimbledon and Peterborough United.

A team that often see vistors having to change their socks when visiting them are Huddersfield Town (see above for one example) were on the other end of this on 31st October when they visitied Bradford City and used alternative white socks, this is also a good example of where the EFL have change their Kit Rules this season and allowing alternative elements of the kits to be used rather than using parts of other kits to create mash ups.

League Two
Kit Overview – 70 Kits out 72 released

Total Kits Used
- Kits Worn in Total – 70
Kit Grid, up to 2nd November

Kit Highlights
Swindon Town, Tranmere Rovers and York City are leading League Two in terms of Kit Variations, with these teams in four different kit looks so far this season.
Chesterfield released their 3rd Kit this month, leaving just two teams (Barnet and Port Vale) to confirm their 3rd Kit this season.

League Two was the first EFL League to have a weekend / matchweek with no new kits being used, with the games played across the weekend of 10th October having no new kit looks being used.
Rochdale wore their Home Kit with Away shorts and socks at Home against Accrington Stanley, it is not confirmed the reason for this but the assumption was that the all blue was not enought of clash for Accrington Stanley’s charcoal / black 3rd kit.

York City have given us one of the best “Mash Ups” of the season against Barnet, wearing their 3rd shirt with Home shorts and alternative red socks, three different elements of kits to make up the kit look, and we love it!

Barnet wore their Home Kit for 10 games in a row, between 29th August and 31st October, then wearing their Away Kit for just the 2nd time this season at Crewe Alexandra.

EFL Kit News
Barnsley and Oxen have confirmed that they have extended their technical partnership in October 2026, continuing a multi-year deal where Oxen produces the club’s playing kits, training wear, and technical apparel.

The Fourth Round of the Carabao Cup took place, with three EFL Teams (League One and League Two) playing at this stage.
In terms of Kit Usage, Arsenal used their Away Kit for the first time in Domestic Football, Aston Villa and Newcastle United in Kit Variations also yet to be seen in the Premier League so far this season.
