Premier League: Matchweek 15 Kit Review

The Premier League games are coming thick and fast, with another round of fixtures completed as we close in on the halfway point of the season! Here is our regular look at the Kits worn in these games.

There was just nine games this weekend, with The Merseyside Derby being postponed due to weather conditions and safety of the fans!

Matchweek 15 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 73 (+2 Kits this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 62 (+1 Kits this Matchweek)

New Kits this Matchweek

There were two new Kit looks this Matchweek..

Newcastle United in their Away kit with alternative white shorts and socks.

Arsenal in their 3rd kit’s default navy socks for first time.

The one new goalkeeper kit on show:

  • Arsenal – Black Adidas Trefoil Kit

Kit Highlights

Arsenal used their 5th Goalkeeper Kit of the season, using the black version of the Adidas Trefoil kit for the first time, having used green previously.

Newcastle United have now worn 6 different kit variations this season, the joint highest in the league however they have used 2 Home, 2 Away and 2 3rd Kit looks for a nice balance in this usage!

Chelsea wore their Away socks with Home Kit for the 2nd game in a row for an all blue look!

My favourite Kit Match Up of the weekend was the game between Crystal Palace and Manchester City, two great kits against each other gives a nice look on the pitch, only the 2nd time Manchester City have used their Away Kit in the Premier League this season!

Overall we have seen 12 Home Kits, 4 Away Kit and 2 3rd Kits

There were three variations seen over these fixtures.

  • Newcastle United – Away with alternative white shorts and socks
  • Nottingham Forest – Away with alternative sky blue shorts, 2nd time used
  • Chelsea – Home / Away socks, all blue, 2nd time used

Interesting news breaking on Monday 9th December, with Manchester City offering fans the chance to design their 3rd Kit for the 2026/27 season by using Puma’s AI Creator, full details can found on the club site here and the goalkeeper shirt has already been planned with input from current Manchester City Goalkeepers Ederson and Stefan Ortega and Rico Lewis!

The Premier League’s first mid-week fixtures of the season have now taken place, with all teams playing over 3 days this week! Here is our regular look at the Kits worn in these games.

Chelsea in their Home Kit with Away socks, to create an all blue look!

Kit Highlights

Wolverhampton Wanderers have worn Home, Away and 3rd kits in their last three games!

Tottenham Hotspur have worn change kits just three times this season but have lost in all three of those games!

My favourite Kit Match Up of the weekend was the game between Manchester City and Nottingham Forest, Forest in red shorts is one of the little kit things that I just love, so seeing them in this look was always going to be a winner for me!

Overall we have seen 14 Home Kits, 6 Away Kit and no 3rd Kits

There were two variations seen over these fixtures.

  • Chelsea – Home / Away socks, all blue
  • Nottingham Forest – Home with alternative red shorts, all red

Premier League: Matchweek 12 Kit Review

The Premier League is back after the 3rd and final International Break of 2024 and as we ramp up to Christmas the fixtures will come around quickly with nine rounds of fixtures over the next six weeks!

Matchweek 12 Fixtures

There were three new Kit looks this Matchweek..

Nottingham Forest wore alternative Sky Blue shorts with their 3rd Kit!

Wolverhampton Wanderers were in their 3rd Kit for first time this season.

Manchester United wore alternative shorts and socks with their Home Shirt to create a Red / Black / White look at Ipswich Town.

The one new goalkeeper kit on show:

  • Wolverhampton Wanderes – Dark Purple

Kit Highlights

Brentford wore their Home Kit in an away game for the first time this season at Everton, they are final team to do this in 2024/25, it also was their first point in away game having lost the prevous five worn in change kits.

Chelsea continue their 100% record in their Away kit this season, making it 3 wins in 3 this weekend (2 with alternative socks, as worn here).

The four Umbro supplied team’s goalkeepers all wore the same template kit this weekend, with AFC Bournemouth, Brentford, Ipswich Town and West Ham United all using the yellow goalkeeper kit!

My favourite Kit Match Up of the weekend was the game between AFC Bournemouth and Brighton & Hove Albion, mainly due this being the first match up this season by two teams in striped shirts… the Bournemouth Home Kit (sponsor aside) is fantastic this season, and seeing the contrast in stripes with Brighton shirt worked well for me!

Overall we have seen 15 Home Kits, 3 Away Kit and 2 3rd Kits

There were three variations seen this weekend

  • Chelsea – Away with alternative socks, 2nd time worn this season
  • Nottingham Forest – 3rd, alternative Sky Blue Shorts
  • Manchester United – Home with black shorts and white socks

Kit Grid – Up to 26th November

Leicester City’s front of shirt sponsor BC.Game announced this week that they have been declared bankrupt, however news from the club is that their sponsor is still committed to the club and will remain on shirts…. one to keep an eye on!

Tottenham Hotspur have annouced a “remastering” of their brand, the headline of this is course an amendment to the club crest which see the word mark of the club removed, leaving just the cockerel. However there is more to this change than just this, there is an re-introduction of a club “wordmark”, 7 Club “Hallmarks” created for the club, we will see these on the kits in the coming seasons!

The most interesting update for me is club introducing a colour palette, does this give us hint of the colours will club will use for their kits going forward, nothing surprising to see but they are closely linked to kits of the club’s past!

Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced a special kit to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of “Floodlight Friendly” win against Honved in 1954, a game that key in the creation of The European Cup. The reflective looking design with minimal branding will be worn against Ipswich Town on 14th December.

Premier League: Matchweek 3 Kit Review

Matchweek 3 is completed, the Transfer Window has been slammed shut and we have now made it to the first International Break of the 2024/25 Premier League season, so let’s take some time to look into the Kits worn this weekend!

We have seen 58 out of 60 Kits released so far… with just Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers to confirm their 3rd Kits.

Matchweek 3 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

Kit Highlights

For the 2nd week in a row, there was no variations (alternative shorts / socks) with the kits used, there has only been 1 used so far this season, after the time last season we had already seen 10!

There 5 teams that have only 1 kit so far this season – Chelsea, Fulham, Leicester City, Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The remaining 15 Teams have worn 2 kits over the opening 3 fixtures, no team in 3 kits in 3 games.

My favourite Kit Match Up of the weekend was the game between Manchester United and Liverpool, Liverpool in their 3rd Kit gave us a classic look for a classic Premier League fixture

Overall we have seen 14 Home Kits and 5 Away and 1 3rd Kits in action.

There were no Kit variations used in this Matchweek, the second week in a row.

Kit Grid – Up to 2nd September

Kit News

Nike released their 3rd Kits this week, all notably have the Nike Swoosh rotated 90′ on the shirt for change in look for the US Manufacturer and forms part of the “Together We Rise’ collection for it’s high profile clubs.

Chelsea’s 3rd Kit takes inspiration from Punk and Punk Rock which can find its origins in the West London region, a black kit with pink and yellow details throughout the kit.

Liverpool’s 3rd Kit is more a traditional look, with it’s white shirt, black shorts and white socks. The kit celebrates the women’s game and its acceleration in world sport.

Tottenham Hotspur’s 3rd Kit is an all-green Kit is inspired by local heritage, with references to the trees from which the name ‘Seven Sisters’ is derived

It was the 2nd Round of The Carabao Cup this past week, the time that Premier League Clubs enter the competition, and it gave us the first competive use of AFC Bournemouth, Brentford and Southampton’s 3rd Kits.

Newcastle United used alternative white socks with their Home Kit and most interestingly Brighton & Hove Albion using white shorts with their Home Kit at The Amex Stadium against Crawley Town

Here we go again…

The 2024 / 25 Premier League Season has now kicked off and just like last season, I will be taking a more in depth look into the Kits each Matchweek.

The current Kit Overview for Premier League is below.

We have seen 53 out of 60 Kits released so far… with just 7 Teams left to release their 3rd Kits.

Matchweek 1 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 20
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 20

New Kits this Matchweek

Of course all kits this week are being used for the first time this season, more details will appear in this section as we move through the season and new kit looks / variations are used.

Kit Highlights

There was just the one “Kit Mash” up on show, Aston Villa who launched their Away Kit the day before their game at West Ham, went with pairing their new kit with their Home Socks to avoid a clash with West Ham who are in White Shorts and Socks this season.

Chelsea started their second consecutive season with no front of shirt sponsor, no agreement was in place for the deadline to add a sponsor, so just as last season it will be a few weeks before we see any changes here.

Arsenal started the season in an unexpected Goalkeeper Kit, having previously advised that they would use the yellow and pink versions of the current Adidas Tiro 24 template, as well as the plain Black Adidas Orginals shirt as a 3rd Option, it was the Black Tiro 24 that was used in the opening game… could be an interesting season for Keeper Kits at The Emirates, with rumours of a 5th keeper look potentially being used this season.

My favourite Kit Match Up of the weekend was the game between Manchester United and Fulham, and its mainly related to those shorts… their design and look is one of my favourite kit details of this season, so seeing two team in this look was great to see in action in the opening game of the season.

Overall we have seen 15 Home Kits and 5 Away, with no 3rd Kits in action.

Premier League: Matchweek 33 Kit Review

Matchweek 33 is now completed and we are truly in the “Business end” of the season! This round of fixtures being the reverse games of Matchweek 16 back in December.

The current Kit Overview for Premier League is below, we now have confirmation that Luton Town’s 3rd kit is paired with navy (same as Home Kit) shorts.

Matchweek 33 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 106 (No Change from Matchweek 32)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 58 (No change from Matchweek 32)

New Kits this Matchweek

There were no new Kit Looks this Matchweek, we will see any new looks for before Clubs starting launching next season’s kits… watch this space!

Kit Highlights

Newcastle United wore a Charity Kit in their game against Tottenham Hotspur but there was more to the shirt than meets the eye. The Sponsor for this game was The Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID), its also worth noting that the backs of the shirts for this game were white, same that we have seen in Champions League earlier this season, normally backs have the full stripes.

There were special ‘haptic’ shirts that will make matchday more accessible for those with hearing loss…. Deaf supporters will wear a unique shirt that transforms the noise of the stadium into a real-time touch sensation, this graphic shows some of the technology in these shirts

Wolverhampton Wanderers were in their 3rd Kit for the fourth time this season and remain unbeaten when playing in this kit, winning two and drawing two.

Crystal Palace have worn their away kit for three times in their last four games!

Everton have now worn five different Kit Looks in their last five games.. with three different Home Kit Looks, a 3rd kit and in their Away kit with alternative shorts and socks for their game against Chelsea!

My favourite Kit Match Up of this weekend was the game between Chelsea and Everton, the Chelsea kit has really grown on me this season and one the best Home Kits they have had in the Nike Era, paired with one of my favourite kits of the season in Everton’s Away Kit!

Overall we have seen 13 Home Kits, 3 Away Kits and 4 3rd Kits in action for these games.

There was there were three Kit Variations on show…

  • Manchester United in All White 3rd Kit, this is 6th time this look has been used
  • Fulham in Home Kit with alternative white socks, for the 7th time this season
  • Everton in Away Kit with alternative salmon shorts and socks, for the 3rd time

Premier League: Matchweek 18 Kit Review

The Christmas fixtures continue with Matchweek 18 being completed over the four days before Christmas, however due to the Manchester City’s participation (and victory) in the World Club Championship, their fixture with Brentford was postponed and will take place later in the season.

Matchweek 18 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 84 (+3 from Matchweek 17)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 55 (No change from Matchweek 17)

New Kits this Matchweek

Brighton & Hove Albion wore alternative white shorts and socks with their away shirt when they visited rivals Crystal Palace on 21st December, this is the 3rd different look used by The Seagulls with their Away shirt (Black shorts / socks and White shorts / Black socks).

There were also two completely unseen kits used in this matchweek, with Everton using their Away Kit for the first time at Tottenham Hotspur.

And Chelsea also used their Away Kit for the first time this season on their Christmas Eve (!!!) visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Kit Highlights

Aston Villa dropped points in their default home kit for the first time this season, having won the previous eight games in home shirt with white shorts and sky blue socks.

Manchester United used their black goalkeeper kit template for only the second time this season and the first since the opening matchweek / game.

Due the postponement of the Manchester City v Brentford game, meant that the nine away teams in this matchweek all used change kits

My favourite Kit Match Up of this week was Tottenham Hotspur against Everton, there is some classy about Spurs in all white that really works for me, matched up with a wonderful Everton Kit being used for the first time just looks great!

Overall we have seen 9 Home Kits, 6 Away Kit and 3 3rd kits in action in this Matchweek (one match abandoned)

There were three Kit Variation on show this week…

  • Brighton & Hove Albion in Away with white shorts & socks
  • Manchester United in their 3rd Kit with white socks, to create their all white look for the third time this season
  • Newcastle United used their 3rd Kit with yellow shorts and socks for the second time

The third round of fixtures in the last week have been completed and we are closing in on the half way stage of the season, so take a few minutes with me and lets take a deeper look at the Kits from this weekend’s Premier League Fixtures.

Matchweek 16 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 81 (+2 from Matchweek 15)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 54 (No change from Matchweek 15)

New Kits this Matchweek

A couple more new kit looks on show through this round of fixtures

Nottingham Forest used their 3rd kit for the first time this season in their visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Newcastle United wore their 3rd Kit in a variation of Navy / Navy / Yellow when they played Tottenham Hotspur, although the 2nd time the 3rd shirt has been worn this season, it is the first in this look.

Kit Highlights

Chelsea used a change kit for just the 2nd time this season, both times being their 3rd kit, with The Blues yet to use their Away kit this season, one of five kits yet to be used by the teams this season!

“Sock Watch”, with Manchester United again used the Teamwear socks with the new Adidas logo this has now been used 5 times in a row (with Home Kit).

West Ham United were the only team this weekend to play in their Home Kit in an away match, this meant in the 10 games, we saw four Away Kits and five 3rd Kits in action!

The five 3rd Kits in action were the following from AFC Bournemouth, Brentford, Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Newcastle United, this is most 3rd Kits in action in one matchweek since MW32 of 2022/23 Season.

This was the first time that Arsenal dropped points wearing their Away Kit this season, with their defeat against Aston Villa being the fifth time that The Gunners have used the Kit, winning the previous four games.

My favourite Kit Match Up of this round of fixtures was the first game of the weekend with Crystal Palace playing Liverpool, both kits being right up there as some of the best on show this season in The Premier League.

Overall we have seen 11 Home Kits, 4 Away Kits and 5 3rd kits in action in this Matchweek.

There were just the two Kit Variation on show this week…

  • Manchester United in Teamwear (new Adidas Logo) black socks with their Home Kit, the 6th time this has been used
  • Newcatle United’s 3rd kit with alternative yellow socks

Kit Grid – Up to 10th December

Crystal Palace have launched a special 4th / Charity Shirt. The shirt will raise funds for the Palace for Life Foundation and will help the charity expand and enhance its outstanding work in the local community, with the goal of improving the lives of young South Londoners.

There are only 1000 shirts made with unique numbers on each of the shirts, all profits going to the charity and will be worn by both Women’s and Men’s teams in their respective FA Cup Fixtures, Women against Chatham Town on 10th December 2023 and Men against Everton on 4th January 2024.

With only a day between the end of Matchweek 15 and start of Matchweek 16 we thought there would be no kit news so thank you Crystal Palace…!!

That wraps up Matchweek 16, European Club Football returns this week, so expect to see some in depth kit reviews of the Group Stage of The Champions League at the end of the week.

The Premier League is now seven weeks into the season and it is time to have a more in depth look at the kits worn this weekend and some of the stories and news around Premier League Kits.

Matchweek 7 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 55 (+1 from Matchweek 6)

New Kits this Matchweek

As we start to get into the season, the new kits on show will of slow down and this was seen this week where there was just one new kit look on show this weekend…

Luton Town in a nice looking kit mash up with Away shirt with Home shorts and socks, celebrating this new look with their first ever Premier League victory.

1 New Goalkeeper Kit:

  • Manchester City (Purple / Pink)

Kit Highlights

The only place to start, is Manchester United “SOCK WATCH” ….

This week it was a return to the Adidas Teamwear socks that include the Adidas Wordmark! This becomes the first look that Manchester United have used more than once in Premier League this season.

Cheslea’s kit was used for the first time with their new front of shirt sponsor, more details below but worth calling out as a kit highlight for the week.

Sheffield United have played all three of their away games this season in their All Yellow Away Kit.

They are not the only team to play in change kits in all their Away Games so far, with both Brentford (Away x1, 3rd x 2) and Crystal Palace (Away x2, 3rd white Away socks x2) continuing their use of change kits on the road this weekend.

My favourite kit match up of the weekend was the game between Everton and Luton Town, the mash up of the Luton Kit working really well and giving a nice balance with the Everton Home Kit, something very nostalgic for me with this game, so calling this one as my favourite of the week!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 14 Home Kits, 5 Away Kit and for the 4th time this season just one 3rd kit in action.

However there were just variations on show, one home and one away kit.

  • Manchester United in those teamwear socks
  • Luton Town in their Away / Home Kit Mash up (as mentioned above).

We still have two teams who have only worn 1 kit this season in the opening 7 games and with both teams playing each other next weeked, likely to make it 8 games in just the one kit!

  • Brighton and Hove Albion
  • Liverpool

And again Everton have used just the one Goalkeeper kit

Chelsea have finally confirmed their front of shirt sponsorship with “Infinite Athlete”, the Sports Technology Company was much rumoured to take the spot on the Chelsea shirt in the past few weeks after initial sponsors Paramount were not sanctioned by the Premier League due to their Broadcast deal with NBC in USA and then fans reacted negatively to the rumours of Stake becoming the headline sponosor of the club.

The Sponsorship with Infinite Athlete was debuted in the West London Derby with Fulham on Monday 2nd October.

Hummel have launched a range of shirts called the “Equality Jersery” to celebrate equality and inclusion in the world of sports. Several of the teams in the Hummel stable will have this shirt, likely to be a pre-match shirt… Premier League’s Everton included in this group. The shirt is the classic “Mexico” template in rainbow colours and goes on sale on 29th September 2023.

There were reports last week coming from Aston Villa that players were unhappy with the quality of the shirts from Castore and that they were impacting performance but holding sweat within the shirt. Added to this, the often seen ripping of Castore shirts certainly brings the quality of the products into the spot light, with Newcastle United already confirmed to moving away from the manufacturer next season, will Aston Villa be the next team?

The game between Luton Town and Burnley which was postponed from Matchweek 2 is being played on Tuesday 3rd October, any additional kit details will be added in next week’s Kit Review.

Matchweek 4 is now complete and we have made past the Transfer Deadline Day and to the first International Break of the season, all 20 teams were in action this weekend and again we have some Kit talking points.

Kit Highlights

Two teams, Aston Villa and Manchester United have worn 4 kits in the opening 4 fixtures of the season…

Aston Villa, in two home kit looks (different socks) and two away kit (different shorts).

Manchester United in three Home Kit Looks (Alternative Shorts / Socks used) and 3rd Kit.

Staying with Manchester United and their game with Arsenal once again brought up the issue of “red / green” kit clashes and their impact on colour blind football fans, fellow Co-Host of Football Kit Podcast Denis from Musuem of Jerseys showed the impact of this on those fans (1 in 12 Male and 1 in 200 Female) with this powerful graphic to show the kit clash.

My favourite kit match up of the weekend was the game between Manchester City and Fulham, Fulham in their 3rd kit for the first time and together with Manchester City’s home kit gave a nice balance of colours on show.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 13 Home Kits, 5 Away Kits and for the first time this season more than one 3rd kit, with 2 seen in action. There were just two kit variations used, both away kits.

  • Tottenham Hotspur who used home socks with their away for the 2nd time this season
  • Newcastle United who also used home socks (white) in their first use of their away kit in Premier League

There are still four teams who have only worn 1 kit this season

  • Brighton and Hove Albion
  • Burnley
  • Chelsea
  • Liverpool

And just two teams who have used just 1 Goalkeeper kit

  • Brighton and Hove Albion
  • Everton

This means that Brighton and Hove Albion are the only team this season to use the same kit look for whole team in the opening four games of the season.

There were four kit launches over the past week.

Chelsea Away kit, an interesting black kit with blue pattern.

Everton 3rd Kit, part of the 100 Year Hummel celebrations and many of their teams having verisons of their famous “Mexico” template and return of the simple “Prince Rupert’s Tower” which was also seen on their 3rd Kit from last season.

Fulham 3rd Kit, it had been rumoured all summer that Fulham would use their away kit from last season as their 3rd kit for this year, so the release of a new third kit took a lot people by surprise but have delivered a really nice black kit with pink details and will have alternative pink shorts and socks for plenty of kit options…. interesting it’s a different shade of pink seen in the away kit, I would have thought similar shades would have been used to mix / match away and 3rd kits.

Tottenham Hotspur 3rd kit, an interesting choice of colour Spurs’ 3rd kit this season, described as “natural tone” in colour, it appears to be almost a pale brown which is a colour that has some history with Tottenham kits.

Finally we got confirmation from last week’s teasing information that Adidas will return to produce Newcastle United kits from next season, news that has seemed to delight fans and kit lovers alike.
