Premier League: 2024 / 25, My Favourite Kit Observation by Team

If you are reading this then I am sure you have already seen my End of Season Kit Report for 2024 / 25 Premier League and taken the all the details here around Kit Usage this season and many of you will know about the Kit Stats that I share on my Socials through out the season.

I wanted to build on that and spend a little time with each of the 20 Teams and call out my favourite Kit Stat, Kit Tale, Story or general call out all the teams, although there are some teams with plenty to discuss regarding their kits, this will be my favourite observation per team.

Arsenal

7 Goalkeeper kits were worn by Arsenal, including the only “Mash Up” Goalkeeper Kit of the season, using the Yellow and Black versions of the Adidas Template to produce this wonderful look!

Aston Villa

The most kit variations used by a single team with 13 Kits in total but only 3 of these were worn more than once… Home Kit (Default Look) 23 times, Away with Home Shorts (All White) 3 times and Home with alternative claret shorts / socks was worn twice.

AFC Bournemouth

Alternative red socks worn at Manchester City in their final Away game of the season, this was the Club’s only variation look of their Home Kit this season.

Brentford

Brentford wore just one alternative variation from their three Kits this season and that was the appearance of Claret Socks at West Ham United. Initially it was believed that visitors had used a pair of change socks from their hosts but closer inspection shows that these were standard Umbro Teamwear socks, not from West Ham Kit room…!

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton & Hove Albion scored the most points in a change kit in the Premier League this season, having scored 19 points in their Away Kit (worn in 14 games).

Chelsea

Chelsea only used their 3rd Kit once in the Premier League this season, worn at Brighton & Hove Albion. In fact this Kit was only worn twice domestically this season, both games against Brighton and within the same week (8th February, FA Cup and 14th February, Premier League).

Crystal Palace

Only variation of kit used by the club this season was in FA Cup Final, with their Home Kit paired with alternative white socks.

Everton

Everton wore their Away Kit in just four game this season but they did that using three different looks, with alternative yellow short and socks used.

Fulham

Fulham were another team that used a change kit just four time, this being their 3rd Kit, which they used twice with alternative white socks (although they do not appear to be Home socks as not carrying the FFC above the Adidas logo).

Ipswich Town

Ipswich Town’s Home was the single most worn outfield kit look this season, being worn 30 times in total.

Leicester City

Leicester City used alternative navy socks with 3rd Kit at Chelsea, a look that worked really well and my favourite for The Foxes this season.

Liverpool

Liverpool used the Nike Goalkeeper template in four different colours, the only Nike supplied team to do so (five if you included the green kit which they also wore with and without the inverted Nike Swoosh logo)!

Manchester City

Another team to wear four Goalkeeper kits was Manchester City, their fourth kit was one that partially created via AI with design input from Ederson, Stefan Ortega, and Rico Lewis, this was part of the promotional advertising for a competition for fans to design their 3rd Kit for 2026 / 27 season!

Manchester United

Manchester United were one of three teams to hit double figures for their Kit Variations this season, each of their three kits used light coloured short variations (White – Home, Light Grey – Away, Off White – 3rd).

Newcastle United

Newcastle United were one of the teams with double digit Kit Variations, wearing 10 Kit looks in total including all possible combinations of their Away Kit with its default and alternative shorts / socks.

Nottingham Forest

Most points scored in 3rd Kit, 16 Points in the 10 games (and 4 Variations) worn.

Southampton

Wore change kits in 18 of the 19 Away games, wearing their Away Kit in 15 Games and 3rd Kit in 3 Games, their 3rd Kit was worn with alternative white shorts in all games rather than the default pink shorts.

Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur had two kit variations used this season, one with Home and one with Away but both used the same pair of alternative Navy Socks.

West Ham United

West Ham wore their Home socks with each of their 3 kits, as default with their Home Kit 22 times, twice with their Away Kit and 4 times with their 3rd Kit.

Wolverhampton Wanderers

Wolves spent the final half of the season in their Home Kit, wearing it in the final 19 games. The last time they wore a change kit was 29th December and in total wore a change it just once in 24 games in six months, wearing alternative Old Gold Shorts on the road in the second half of the season in all but 1 game!

Premier League: Matchweek 23 Kit Review

The Premier League games completed for January with Matchweek 23, and we are 60% of the way through the season! These were the reverse fixtures from the opening weekend of the season, Matchweek 1.

You can find last week’s report here

The current Kit Overview for Premier League is below.

Matchweek 23 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 90 (No new Kits this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 69 (+1 New Kit this Matchweek)

New Kits this Matchweek

There were no new outfield kits this weekend, only the second Matchweek that this has happened this season (first being Matchweek 19).

There was one new Goalkeeper Kit used, with Manchester City debuting their AI Designed Kit (designed by Ederson, Stefan Ortega and Rico Lewis).

Kit Highlights

Leicester City became the first team to use a Kit 20 times this season, in just 23 games they have worn their Home Kit 20 times!

Some interesting sock usage by Everton’s Iliman Ndiaye, with what appears at first glance to be an alternative pair of socks used (yellow) with rest of the team being in dark grey socks. Thanks to @_luke1878_ on “X” the answer seems to be “cuts his socks short and wears them upside down, so it looks like his socks are a different colour” – it also he appeared he done the same thing when Everton played Manchester City wearing alternative yellow socks with this kit, his socks looked the opposite!

This week saw 15 teams in their Home Kit, this was the most Home Kits used in a single Matchweek since the first round of fixtures, which were also the reverse round of fixtures

My favourite Kit Match Up of this Matchweek was the game between Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton, a nice of balance of colours and with the accents of yellow on both kits, it seems to work well!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 15 Home Kits, 3 Away Kits and 2 3rd Kits

There was just the single variation seen over these fixtures.

  • Newcastle United – Away with alternative white shorts, 2nd time used

Kit Grid – Up to 27th January

Kit News

Manchester City who used their AI Generated Goalkeeper kit this weekend have also announced the 10 options for their 3rd Kit for 2026 / 27 season, which was created via AI by fans and kit designers out there… you can vote for your favourite here

You can find last week’s report here

The current Kit Overview for Premier League is below.

Matchweek 17 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 81 (+4 Kits this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 64 (+2 Kits this Matchweek)

New Kits this Matchweek

There were four new Kit looks this Matchweek..

Brighton & Hove Albion used alternative blue socks with their Home Kit.

Newcastle United wore their 3rd Kit with alternative aqua green shorts.

Wolverhampton Wanderers used their Home Kit with alternative “Old Gold” shorts for the first time this season.

AFC Bournemouth in alternative purple shorts with their Away Kit.

Two new Goalkeeper Kits seen this weekend:

  • Brentford – Green Umbro Template
  • Brighton & Hove Albion – Black Nike Template

Kit Highlights

Newcastle United now have the joint highest Kit Variations of the season, with their 7th Kit look in total, this being their 3rd different 3rd Kit look!

There have been more goalkeeper kits worn this season so far with 64 than the whole of last season with 61 Kits! Two new looks this week with Brentford and Brighton both wearing new looks this weekend (standard Umbro / Nike Templates).

Liverpool were the only Away team this weekend to wear their default home kit, Brighton and Wolves both in alternative elements of their Home for the first time this season.

My favourite Kit Match Up of the weekend was the game between Ipswich Town and Newcastle United, a nice match up with Newcastle United in their 3rd Kit, the balance of colours worked well and the alternative shorts of Newcastle were unexpected!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 13 Home Kits, 3 Away Kits and 4 3rd Kits

There were six variations seen over these fixtures, the most in one Matchweek so far this season.

  • Newcastle United – 3rd Kit with alternative aqua green shorts
  • Brighton & Hove Albion – Home Kit with alternative blue socks
  • Arsenal – 3rd Kit with alternative turquoise socks, 2nd time used
  • Wolves – Home with alternative old gold shorts

Premier League: Matchweek 37 Kit Review

Matchweek 37, the penultimate week of the season has now been completed. These fixtures being the reverse games from Matchweek 4.

As always you can find last week Matchweek’s review – here

The current Kit Overview for Premier League is below.

Matchweek 37

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 109 (no new kits)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 60 (no new kits)

New Kits this Matchweek

There were no new kits on show this Matchweek, which is no surprise… we are waiting to see if we will have any 2024/25 kits on show in the final round of fixtures this season.

Kit Highlights

Brentford won for the first time this season in their Away Kit, this was the 7th time the kit was worn this season with 1 draw and 5 defeats in the previous 6 outings this season… the Kit was alao worn 6 times in Premier League last season with no victories, so it looks like in it’s last usage in its 2 year life cycle it was finally worn in victory.

Brighton & Hove Albion wore their 3rd Kit for just the second time this season (last season’s Away Kit) both occasions have been with alternative white shorts.

Liverpool remain unbeaten in the League in their Away Kit, playing 7 times with 3 wins and 4 draws.

My favourite Kit Match Up of the weekend was the game between Manchester United and Arsenal, an all Adidas affair and seeing the Arsenal Kit on show for probably the final time is reason enough to be my favourite kit match of the week, a modern classic in my eyes!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 12 Home Kits, 5 Away Kit and 3 3rd Kit in action.

There were 2 Kit variations used in this Matchweek

  • Luton Town, Away Kit with Home shorts & socks, the 4th time this look has been used
  • Brighton & Hove Albion in 3rd Kit with white shorts, 2nd time

Kit Grid – Up to 14th May 2024

Kit News

Burnley have annouced their new kit partnership with Castore, as previously reported Castore have taken over the licence to supply kits to a number of British Clubs from Umbro, so this appears to be the first of these changes.

The club announced it was a multi-year deal with Castore starting from 2024/25 Season, full details can be found on the club’s site and it’s offical annoucement here.

It has been reported that Chelsea have missed the deadline in confirming their front of shirt sponsorship for their 2024/25 kits. This means that the initial launch of their new kits are likely to be blank much like this season where they only confirmed “Infinite Athlete” once the season had kicked off… one to keep an eye on over the next few weeks.

Let me know your thoughts in the comments below or at @Kit_Geek I will be back next week with the final weekly review and of course the big one, the full season report…!

Matchweek 27 is now completed, time to take a deeper look into the kits of the weekend and a special weekend for Kit Reviews as we hit 100 Kits of the season in the Premier League. This round of fixtures being the reverse games of Matchweek 10

As always you can find last week Matchweek’s review – here

The current Kit Overview for Premier League is below, we now have all 60 shirts released… still waiting for confirmation of the shorts that will be used with Luton Town’s 3rd.

Matchweek 27 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 100 (+1 from Matchweek 26)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 58 (No change from Matchweek 26)

New Kits this Matchweek

There was just the one new kit on show this weekend and it was the 100th Kit of the Premier League Season!

Brighton & Hove Albion wore their 3rd Kit for the first time this season, this was last season’s away kit but in this instance was worn with white shorts.. also meaning that The Seagulls have worn alternative white shorts with all three of their kits in League this season.

Kit Highlights

Manchester City became the first team to wear a kit 20 times this season (out of 27 games) when they played Local Rivals Manchester United.

After calling out their excellent record of Wolverhampton Wanderers in their change kits a few weeks ago, I may have jinxed them as their defeat against Newcastle United was their first loss in a change kit this season (8 games – 5 Away kit / 3 3rd Kit appearences).

My favourite Kit Match Up of this weekend was The Manchester Derby, I do enjoy this Kit Match up when it is played a Manchester City, one of Kit Guilty Pleasures is seeing Manchester United in Black Shorts and especially this season with their default socks being used, giving us this look for just the second time.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 14 Home Kits, 2 Away Kits and 4 3rd Kits in action in this Matchweek

There was there two Kit Variations on show this week.

  • Brighton & Hove Albion in their 3rd Kit with White Shorts
  • Manchester United in Home Kit with alternative black shorts, the 2nd time this short and (default) socks combination has been used

Kit Grid – Up to 4th March 2024

Premier League: Matchweek 22 Kit Review

Matchweek 22 was the second round of Midweek fixtures (outside the Christmas Period), with all 20 Teams in action across Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (30th January to 1st February).

As always you can find last week Matchweek’s review – here

The current Kit Overview for Premier League is below, we now have all 60 shirts released… still waiting for confirmation of the shorts that will be used with Luton Town’s 3rd.

Matchweek 21 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 94 (+3 from Matchweek 21)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 58 (+1 from Matchweek 21)

New Kits this Matchweek

There were three new kit looks on show through these fixtures and one new goalkeeper kit!

Brighton & Hove Albion wore an alternative white shorts and socks with their Home Kit for the first time, a nice overall look that still keeps the overall classic Brighton feel to the kit!

Everton used their Away Kit just the second time this season but this time with alternative “salmon” shorts and socks for lovely looking overall Kit… I think I might even prefer the look here than the standard navy shorts and socks.

Brentford wore their 3rd Kit with alternative navy socks, this was the first kit variation worn by The Bees this season but thats not all from this them this week….

There was also a new Goalkeeper Kit on show for Brentford, the first team to wear 4 goalkeeper kits this season. This was a purple version of last seasons keeper template which has also been worn by Luton Town this season!

Kit Highlights

An “interesting” Kit Stat from the game between Aston Villa and Newcastle United, the result of Newcastle United winning meant this was the first time Aston Villa had suffered defeat in their default Home Kit this season as well as being the first League victory for Newcatle United in alternative Black Socks with their Home Kit….!

Brentford became the first team to wear four goalkeeper kits this season, with their use of the purple template from last season’s Umbro catalogue.

My favourite Kit Match Up of these midweek fixtures has to be Fulham and Everton, the use of red and white details in the Fulham Home kit is one of favourite little details this season, paired with cracking Everton away kit with what is arguably better alternative shorts and socks is a winner for me!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 13 Home Kits, 4 Away Kits and 3 3rd Kits in action in this Matchweek

There were five Kit Variation on show this week.

  • Brighton & Hove Albion in Home kit with alternative white shorts and socks
  • Everton in Away kit with alternative “Salmon” shorts and socks
  • Newcastle United in Black socks with their Home Kit for the 3rd Time this season
  • Brentford, 3rd kit with alternative navy socks
  • Manchester United in all off white 3rd kit, 4th time this look has been used

Kit Grid – Up to 23rd January 2024

Kit News

With Paris St. Germain’s Jordan Kit “deal” coming to an end this season we thought they may be the end of the “Jumpman” logo featuring on Football Kits, however it has been reported that a London Club is being looked at to take up the logo moving forward… with currently Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur being in the Nike camp, it likely to be one of these clubs with Chelsea being rumoured as the preferred option.

Premier League: Matchweek 1 Kit Review

And we are off….

The 2023 / 24 Premier League Season has now kicked off and as mentioned here I will be taking a more in depth look into the Kits each Matchweek from my usual update via Social Media.

The current Kit Overview for Premier League is below, we have seen 50 out of the 60 Kits released so far…

Matchweek 1 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 20
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 20

New Kits this Matchweek

Of course all kits this week are being used for the first time this season, more details will appear in this section as we move through the season and new kit looks / variations are used.

Kit Highlights

The New Premier League Namesets got their first full outings and visually worked well I believe, they certainly appeared to be a lot bigger and clearer than their predecessors, so a thumbs up from me on those changes (apart from the bespoke colours, I would still love to see more colour options available to teams).

There were two Kit Mash ups used in the opening weekend of fixtures…

Firstly Crystal Palace who combined their 3rd Kit with their white Away Kit Socks, this look giving two shades of Blue on the kit, with the lighter shade of blue being used with the Away Kit this season.

The second Mash Up was with Tottenham Hotspur, who not only launched their beautiful Navy Blue Away Kit this weekend, they then used it at Brentford with Home Socks (White)

There was a potentially a third Kit Mash Up used with Aston Villa using alternative “Claret” Socks to their trip to Newcastle United, however we do not know what their 3rd kit looks like, so not sure if this is a mash up or just use of alternative home socks, my feeling is this will be an alternative sock but time will tell!

Some more investigation is needed on Brighton & Hove Albion’s Goalkeeper Kit, the black kit worn by Jason Steele this weekend which appears to be same black kit used in the 2022/23 Season, its been difficult to get a clear image of the kit to be 100% certain… so watch this space about this one!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 15 Home Kits (12 default and 1 variations), 4 Away Kits (3 default and 1 variation) and just the one 3rd kit used in these opening games

Kit Grid – Up to 15th August

Kit News

In the coming week we expect to see the lauch of Arsenal’s 3rd Kit which has been well documented as a return to the green / navy sleeves, which is rumoured to launched on Friday 18th August 2023.

That is this Premier League Matchweek Kit Review, 10 games down… 370 to go!!

Let me know your thoughts in the comments below or at @Kit_Geek and Matchweek 2 Review will be published after next weekend’s games.
