Premier League: Matchweek 31, Kit Review

The Premier League has reached another International Break, the first of 2026. This weekend sees the return of Friday night football, it is also the Carabao Cup Final this weekend which means there are eight Premier League games being played, with Wolves and Arsenal being played on 18th February and the game between Manchester City and Crystal Palace to be arrange at a future date.

These with these matches played across three days on Friday 20th March and Sunday 22nd March 2026.

They are the return fixtures of the round of fixtures played in Matchweek 16 , which was the first round of mid-week games this season on between the 13th and 15th December 2025.

You can find last round of fixtures report here

The Kit Overview for Premier League is below:

Matchweek 31 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 103 (No New Kit this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 70 (No New Kits this Matchweek)

There were no new kit looks on show this weekend, there is still one game to play but it is unlikely we will see a new look used by Manchester City or Crystal Palace.

Kit Highlights

Manchester United have now worn 6 different kit looks in their last 6 Away games, with 3 Away looks, 2 Home and 1 3rd Kit in these games, dating back to 7th January.

Chelsea lost their first game in the league in their Away Kit this season, this was 6th time they have worn the kit (in 3 different variations).

Nottingham Forest have now worn their Home Kit in 8 games in a row (twice with alternative red shorts), the longest current Kit-Streak.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Bournemouth and Manchester United, as regular readers will know the Bournemouth Home kit is one of my favourite of the season and matched against the Manchester United with alternative white shorts was a good match up!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 14 Home Kits, 4 Away and no Third Kits in action (still one game to be played)

There three Kit variations used in this Matchweek.

  • Manchester United – Away with alternative white shorts, 3rd time used
  • Chelsea – Away with alternative shorts and socks, 3rd time used
  • West Ham United – Away with alternative navy socks, 2nd time used

Kit Grid – Up to 16th March

Kit News

It has been reported that AFC Bournemouth have signed a new Kit Deal, The Cherries are switching to Hummel from 2026 / 27 season after agreeing a 5 Year Deal with the popular Danish Manufacturer. More details can be found here via our Friends at Footy Headlines (Image credit below as well) and SportBusiness.

The Premier is now breaking for International Fixtures and then FA Cup Quarter Finals, and will return on Friday 10th April.

England Kit Review – 2026 / 27

The Heat Press: England Kits 2026 / 27

It is that time again for The Heat Press to fire up, as we take a more detailed look at the new England Kits for 2026 / 26 released by Nike on Friday 20th March 2026, all set for the forthcoming World Cup in June.

Nike have been Kit Manufacturer for The Three Lions since 2013 and these kits are seventh set of kits produced by the US Giants over this period with both the Home (Primary) and Away (Secondary) kits released at the same time which is now the standard for Nike’s International Kit Launches in a tournament year.

Home (Primary)

England will wear “All White” has the default look for the first time since 2014, which was the second set of Nike Kits produced for The Three Lions for that World Cup, which saw a brief directive by FIFA for countries to be in single colour blocks.

The Kit continues to have Navy Blue has one the colour details but also sees more red used as an accent colour, including the return of red names and numbers (for me something that is key in a Traditional England Kit look). The most predominant red within the shirt comes in the side panels, with red “flashes” breaking the look of the shirt nicely.

No England kit release is without some kind twist for the “traditionalists” out there, this one is going to be the shorts and the choice of white as the default look, I have no real preference in the look for the Home Kit but as will come clear later in this post, I believe this is the right choice for this kit.

A closer look at the shirt reveals a subtle pattern using the “Three Lions”, reminiscent of that classic 1992 3rd Kit from Umbro. Another detail I really like is the collar, a return to a simple round neck collar but the navy, white, red trim is a nod to one of my favourite England Kits of all time from 1987 to 1989 with it’s “Grandad” collar. Finished off with a nice triangle insert to finish a wonderful overall look to the neckline.

Away (Secondary)

The Away sees a return to red after the previous Away Kit was “Dark Raisin”. Red was last used in 2022 (for the last World Cup), which was an “All Red” Kit. This new change kit delivers something new, navy shorts….

A look that England have worn three times in the past (Turkey, 1985 – New Zealand 1991 – USA 1993, see below) but these looks were all variations of the Away using Home Shorts. This will be the first time that the combination has been used by England as a default Change look.

Taking a closer at the shirt, the subtle “Three Lion” pattern seen in the Home Shirt continues with this shirt, as does the trim in the cuff of the sleeves with that Navy cuff with white / red banding, another nice touch for me that ties the two kits together. The biggest change between the two shirts is the collar, with the Away have more structure, still no collar but more of an angled look rather than a “V-Neck”, a nice design choice in my eyes.

Now, those Navy shorts… I love the choice of going with this look, its new but traditional, its different but familiar, congratulations Nike on this choice, you have made this Kit Geek very happy! This shorts are great and I believe given the design of them, they can be used as alternative for the Home Kit and vice-versa, given us something we have not seen the early 90s, Kits that are truly Interchangeable, including those socks with their matching calf bands.

England last wore Red – Navy – Red in US, playing against the hosts of the US Cup in 1993

One question remains is how much use will this Away Kit get, the previous two change kits have got minimal action on the pitch, with previous (Dark Raisin) worn just three times in 2024 and not at all in 2025, and the Red Away Kit before that only being worn twice, once in 2022 and once in 2023, on top of that one of my favourite Kit Stats being that England have not worn a Change Kit in a Major Tournament since July 14th 2018, nearly 8 years.

In Summary….

I did not mind the last set of England Kits, but for me these are step up and Nike have delivered a really nice set of Interchangeable Kits for their first time, I look forward to seeing these in action in the upcoming fixtures against Uruguay (Friday 27th March) and Japan (Tuesday 31st March), with the expectation that we will see both kits in action for the first time.

There are some wonderful elements to these kits, the cuff design in both shirts is one of my favourite elements of the kits, the collar in the Home Kit, nodding back to one of my favourite England Kits of all time. The return of Red Numbers for the Home Kit, one of my Kit “Must Haves”….

What about the Goalkeeper Kit, I have not even mentioned this but one am expecting to be as popular as the outfield shirts this summer, a design that easily be worn as leisure shirt as much as playing shirt.

In short, I am a big fan of these kits….!

Regular followers will know I track all kinds of kits in my very unique way, here is my illustration of the two kits all set for World Cup Kit Log.

The Kit is exclusive to the England Store from Monday 23rd March 2026 a few days it goes on general sale at other sites and can be purchased from here

Everton were in All Blue again on the road, this was the 6th time this season and continues to be the most used Kit Variation of the season.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Chelsea and Newcastle United, two home kits complementing each other in their match up, a simple but effective overall look!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 14 Home Kits, 2 Away and 4 Third Kits in action.

There three Kit variations used in this Matchweek.

The Premier League has another round of Mid-week fixtures with these matches played across three days on Tuesday 3rd March and Thursday 5th March 2026.

The Kit Overview for Premier League is below:

Matchweek 29 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 102 (+1 New Kit this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 70 (No New Kits this Matchweek)

There was one new kit look used in this round of fixtures:

Manchester United wore Home Kit with alternative white socks

Kit Highlights

Manchester United who their 9th Kit Variation of the season, the highest now in Premier League this season, having worn three variations of their three kits.

They have also now worn four different Kit Looks in their last 4 games.

Nottingham Forest have worn their Home Kit in 6 games in a row, they have worn red shorts in 2 of these games but this is the longest current run of a team in their Home Kit.

Arsenal won their 15th Game in their Home Kit in the Premier League this season.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Aston Villa and Chelsea, Chelsea’s 3rd kit has n been under-used this season, with this just the 3rd time used in Premier League this season, and the match up with Villa’s home kit worked well.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 16 Home Kits, 1 Away and 3 Third Kits in action.

There three Kit variations used in this Matchweek.

  • West Ham United – Home, All Claret, 3rd time used
  • Nottingham Forest – Home, All Red, 3rd time used

Welcome to my 300th Article on this site…. more on that later!

The Premier League hits March and somehow we have just 10 games to go in the League now! Friday Night Football returns as these matches played across three days on Friday 27th February and Sunday 1st March 2026.

They are the return fixtures of the round of fixtures played in Matchweek 13 , which was the first round of mid-week games this season on between the 29th and 30th November 2025.

The Kit Overview for Premier League is below:

Matchweek 28 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 101 (No New Kit this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 70 (No New Kits this Matchweek)

There were no new Kits (both outfield and Goalkeeper), this is the first time this has happened this season, with last week being the first with no outfield but had a new goalkeeper look.

Kit Highlights

Tottenham Hotspur are not having the most successful of seasons, however this weekend was the first time they had lost this season in their Away Kit, this was the 5th time they worn the kit.

Everton wore there Home Kit with alternative blue shorts, this all blue look was used for the 5th Time this season and is the most used Home Kit Variation in the Premier League this season.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Burnley and Brentford, Brentford’s use of alternative socks with their 3rd Kit is a great look and paired perfectly with the Burnley Home Kit.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 14 Home Kits, 5 Away and 1 Third Kits in action.

There two Kit variations used in this Matchweek.

  • Brentford – 3rd with alternative claret socks, 2nd time used

The Premier League returns after last weekend’s FA Cup 4th Round, with these matches played across three days on Saturday 21st February and Monday 23rd February 2026.

They are the return fixtures of the round of fixtures played in Matchweek 12 , which was the first round of mid-week games this season on between the 22nd and 24th November 2025.

You can find last round of fixtures report here

The Kit Overview for Premier League is below:

Matchweek 27 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 101 (No New Kit this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 70 (+1 New Kits this Matchweek)

There were no new outfield kits on show this Matchweek, the first one of the season.

There was one new Goalkeeper Kit Look used this weekend, Brighton using white socks

Kit Highlights

This Matchweek was the first of this season NOT to feature a new Kit Look, well an outfield look that is as we did see a new Goalkeeper Kit. For comparison, last season the first Matchweek where there was no new outfield kit was Matchweek 19 (4th to 6th January 2025).

Chelsea debuted their new front of shirt sponsor, IFS a provider of Industrial AI. In the communication about this deal, it is described as a Multi-Year partnership, however it is only confirmed as a front of shirt detail for the remainder of the 2025 / 26 season.

James Milner broke the record for the most Premier League games played this weekend, his start from Brighton & Hove Albion against Brentford was his 654th Game across 23 seasons. He carried “654” on his boots and there was also a hand-written gesture within the collar of this match shirt… will we see something more official in the coming weeks?

Newcastle United playing at Manchester City was an interesting kit story, we often see Manchester City play teams in darker shades of blue with no change, however this game saw Newcastle United change into blue, probably the least likely of the their kits to be used but it still worked for me, maybe this was used as a change of luck after wearing their Home Kit in their recent Carabao Cup Semi-Final game earlier this month.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Nottingham Forest and Liverpool, with two classic looking kits on show, I was secretly hoping we would see Liverpool in their 3rd Kit (all green variation), to replicate the opening “Super Sunday” fixture in 1992 (Forest also wearing a kit that resembles that look) but this match up was worked very well.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 14 Home Kits, 3 Away and 3 Third Kits in action.

There two Kit variations used in this Matchweek.

  • Fulham – Away, All Fluro Green, 5th time used
  • Manchester United – Home, with alternative black shorts, 4th time used

Kit Grid – Up to 23rd February

Kit News

The main news was the announcement of the Chelsea front of shirt sponsorship deal which as mentioned above as part of the weekly highlights.

Puma launched their final official Premier League Ball of the season, called the “Thrill” Ball, this will be used in the final games of the season. This is the first season that Puma have been supplying balls in the Premier League and this will be 4th ball launched this season, with the original ball used at the start of the season, the winter yellow ball and an unused orange “Snow” Ball.

The Premier League returns quickly for another round of mid-week fixtures before the weekend’s FA Cup games, with these matches played across three days on Tuesday 10th February and Thursday 12th February 2026.

They are the return fixtures of the second round of fixtures played in Matchweek 14 , which was the first round of mid-week games this season on between the 2nd and 4th December 2025.

You can find last round of fixtures report here

The Kit Overview for Premier League is below:

Matchweek 26 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 101 (+2 Kit this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 69 (+ New Kits this Matchweek)

There were two new kit looks on show these matches.

Leeds United in Home Kit with Away Socks.

Arsenal in Away Kit with alternative grey shorts and socks.

Kit Highlights

And there we have it, the 100 Kit Looks used this season, with Leeds United use of Home Kit with Away Socks being the 100th Kit in the 251st Game of the season, this was quicker than last season (292 Games).

This also means we continue to see a new kit look every match week this season, the breakdown below shows this in more detail!

Leeds United in their 4th Different Kit Variation of the Season and their first “Mash Up”

Arsenal were in their 6th Kit look of the season, and their 3rd different Away Kit look, although this look has been used in Champions League this season, this is the first time in Premier League.

Newcastle United, Manchester United and Liverpool all wore variations of change kits for the 2nd time this season in these games. All looks were changing to matching shorts and socks (and of course Adidas Kits), add to that the similar look of Arsenal (although this was the first time that variation was used in Premier League).

AFC Bournemouth were first team to wear an outfield field kit for the 20th time this season, Manchester City also reached this number in this Matchweek but due the fixture scheduling, Bournemouth reached 20 first!

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Sunderland and Liverpool, this was only the third time we have seen Liverpool’s wonderful 3rd Kit in action in Premier League this season, and paired up against Sunderland Home Kit gave us a lovely Kit Match Up in these mid-week games!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 13 Home Kits, 3 Away and 4 Third Kits in action.

There were five Kit variations used in this Matchweek.

  • Leeds United – Home with Away socks
  • Newcastle United – 3rd with alternative orange shorts & socks, 2nd time used
  • Manchester United – Away with alternative purple socks, 2nd time used
  • Liverpool – 3rd with alternative white socks, 2nd time used
  • Arsenal – Away with alternative grey shorts & socks

The Kit Overview for Premier League is below:

Matchweek 25 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 99 (+1 Kit this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 69 (+1 New Kits this Matchweek)

There was just the one new kit looks on show these matches.

West Ham United wore alternative navy socks with their Away Kit.

There was also one new Goalkeeper Kit look, with Aston Villa using the Yellow Version of the Trefoil Template for the first time this season.

Kit Highlights

We are closing in on 100 Kit Looks used this season, with the one new look this weekend that takes up to 99…

1 more kit look to go and we continue to see at least one new kit look every match week this season, the breakdown below shows this in more detail!

West Ham United were in their 7th Kit Variation of the season, with 3 Home Kit Looks, 3 Away (see below) and a single 3rd Kit used so far this season. This is the joint second highest along with Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.

Aston Villa used their 5th different Goalkeeper look of the season, with the use of the yellow Trefoil Template Kit, the other teams to use this kit, Arsenal and Newcastle United are the two other teams that have used at least 5 Different Goalkeeper Kits (Arsenal – 6, Newcastle United – 5).

Everton have worn 4 different Kit Looks in their last 4 games, Away Kit (with Navy Socks), Home Kit, 3rd Kit and Home with Blue shorts worn in this time.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, Spurs wearing their Away Kit at Old Trafford is something although not common, we have seen before (2021 / 22 was the last time it was done), but using their 3rd Kit worked quite nicely.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 13 Home Kits, 3 Away and 4 Third Kits in action.

There were four Kit variations used in this Matchweek.

  • Nottingham Forest – Home with alternative red shorts, 2nd time used
  • West Ham United – Away with alternative navy socks
  • Everton – Home with alternative blue shorts, 4th time used
  • Chelsea – Away with alternative socks, 2nd time used

The Premier League says goodbye to January as it plays it’s fifth round of fixtures in 2026 , with these games played across three days on Saturday 31st January and Monday 2nd February 2026.

They are the return fixtures of the second round of fixtures played in Matchweek 2 , on the weekend of 22nd to 25th August 2025.

You can find last round of fixtures report here

The Kit Overview for Premier League is below:

Matchweek 24 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 98 (+1 Kit this Matchweek)
  • Goalkeeper Kits – 68 (No New Kits this Matchweek)

There was just the one new kit looks on show these matches.

Brentford in their 3rd Kit with alternative claret socks.

Kit Highlights

We are closing in on 100 Kit Looks used this season, with the one new look this weekend that takes up to 98… just 2 more looks to go and we continue to see at least one new kit look every match week this season, the breakdown below shows this in more detail!

Brentford wore their 4th Kit Variation of the season and their first alternative kit look.

Arsenal have worn 4 different kit looks in the last 5 games.

West Ham United have now worn their Home Kit in 10 consecutive games, however they have worn 3 different looks in this time, with default look used 7 times, All Claret used once and the look they used this weekend at Chelsea with alternative claret socks used twice.

Crystal Palace wore their Away (although marketed as white change kit), for just the second time this season, the first being in Match 7, so first time in 17 games.

My favourite “Kit Match Up” of the Matchweek was the game between Aston Villa and Brentford, as regular followers and readers will know I love a constrasting sock being used, so Brentford using this look and the colour match up between the two kits works really well for me here.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen 14 Home Kits, 4 Away and 2 Third Kits in action.

There were four Kit variations used in this Matchweek.

  • West Ham United – Home with alternative claret socks, 2nd time used
  • Fulham – Home with alternative black shorts, 2nd time used
  • Brentford – 3rd with alternative claret socks
  • Burnley – Away with Home socks

Kit Grid – Up to 3rd February

Kit News

Chelsea launched a range of leisure wear called “Return of the Rebel” which takes inspiration from one of the clubs most well know Away Kits worn between 1994 and 1996, the grey and orange look.

There was lots of rumours that this shirt was the Away Kit for 2026 / 27 Season but turns out that was incorrect and this leaked shirt was part of this range and will be a “Pre-Match” Shirt. A nice retro crest used here as well.

Kit Highlights:

Looking at some of my favourite Kit highlights of the League Phase of the competition…

There were two teams that wore five different Kit variations in their eight games, Bayern Munich and Sporting CP.

Bayern Munich, who wore Home, Away and three different variations of their 3rd Kit.

Sporting CP wore two variations of their Home Kit, Away, 3rd and a Charity Kit.

Bayer Leverkusen were the only team to wear a single Kit Look through this phase of the competition.

PSG were the only team to wear four distinct kits with no variations, wearing Home, Away, 3rd and 4th Kit in their eight games!

AS Monaco wore three different Home Kit looks, using red / white shorts and socks in different combinations.

Benfica were the only team to wear just their Home Kit in all of their matches, they did this in two different looks, wearing default look (white shorts) six times and alternative red shorts twice.

Borussia Dortmund as with traditional over the recent seasons wore a Cup Kit, they did this in two different variations, only wearing alternative shorts the once in the opening game against Juventus.

Juventus wore their 3rd Kit more than any other look, wearing it four times including once at Home.

There were three examples of “European” Change kits, with Napoli having dedicated European Away and 3rd Kits (a shame we did not get to see that wonderful brown 3rd Kit in Champions League Action) and Union Saint-Gilloise used a “European” Away Kit.

Manchester City wore a 4th Kit for second season in a row, this season wearing it three times in total for their most used look away from Etihad Stadium.

That’s it, the Champions League “League” Phase has now been completed!
