The current Kit Overview for Kits worn by The Champions League Teams.

Match 5 Fixtures

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 98
  • 15 New Kits used this Matchweek

New Kits this Matchweek

The 15 new kits this week were the following:

  • Ajax – 3rd
  • Benfica – Home, All Red
  • Union Saint-Gilloise – Away (European Version)
  • Villarreal – Away
  • Barcelona – Away
  • Newcastle United – 3rd
  • Napoli – Away (European Version)
  • Athletic Club – Away
  • Monaco – Home with alternative red shorts / white socks
  • Bayern Munich – 3rd with green socks
  • Inter Milan – Home with white socks
  • Real Madrid – 3rd
  • PSG – 4th Kit
  • Tottenham Hotspur – 3rd
  • Club Brugge – 3rd

Kit Highlights

There are just two teams have just worn a single kit look in the five games so far, both from Germany – Bayer Leverkusen and Eintracht Frankfurt

The game between Ajax and Benfica was a game that gave us plenty of talking points in terms of kits. Firstly, Ajax were the Home Team and wore their 3rd Kit, the reason given for this was the lack of Kit Options from Benfica (who have a light grey Away Kit and white 3rd Kit).

This was also the 4th Kit Look Ajax have used so far in the competition (joint highest) and was the first alternative look worn by Benfica.

Two teams wore “European” Away Kits for the first time in the Champions League. Union Saint-Gilloise wore a plain white shirt (their domestic Away contains a map of the area in the body of the shirt) and Napoli wore an All White Away, with their domestic Away being cream in colour.

Newcastle United wore a change kit for the first time in Champions League this season, using their “Trefoil” 3rd Kit against Olympique Marseille.

Athletic Club wore their Away Kit at Slavia Prague, this was their 4th different Kit Look so far this season in the competition, the joint highest from a club.

It was 4th Kit v 3rd Kit, when Tottenham Hotspur visited PSG, who debuted their 4th Kit for this season (something we have seen them use in past few seasons in The Champions League). PSG are the first team to wear four distinct kits in the competition so far.

AS Monaco wore a different Kit variation for the first time this season, however it was still their Home Kit but paired with alternative shorts and socks, so red shorts and white socks, the opposite of their default look.

Bayern Munich wore their 3rd Kit for the second time in the competition, however this time with alternative green socks, rather than the default light gold / cream socks, this is the fourth Kit Look used so far.

There are eight teams that have now worn four kit looks in the opening five games, Galatasaray and Sporting CP (who used four in four games), Ajax, Athletic Club, Bayern Munich and PSG all mentioned above, with the other two teams Inter Milan (who wore white socks with their Home Kit) and Union Saint-Gilloise (European Away) making up the eight clubs.

My favourite Kit Match of the week was the game between Borussia Dortmund and Villarreal, the Spanish team are not one for changing their kit but against Dortmund was one of times when it was needed, so the Kit Match up looked good in action.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen the following kits…

  • 19 Home Kits
  • 7 Away Kits
  • 7 3rd Kits
  • 2 “Cup” Kit
  • 1 4th Kit

There were just 4 Kit Variations seen this week…

  • Benfica – Home, All Red
  • Monaco – Home, alternative red short / white socks
  • Bayern Munich – 3rd, alternative green socks
  • Inter Milan – Home, white socks

New Kits this Matchweek

The 12 new kits this week were the following:

  • Arsenal – Away
  • Union Saint-Gilloise – 3rd with yellow (Home) socks
  • Juventus – Home with white shorts
  • Sporting CP – Away
  • PSV Eindhoven – Away

  • FC Copenhagen – 3rd
  • Chelsea – Away with alternative socks
  • Galatasaray – 3rd
  • Inter Milan – 3rd
  • Kairat – Away
  • Athletic Bilbao – 3rd

Kit Highlights

Six teams have just worn a single kit look in the four games so far – Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica, Eintracht Frankfurt, Moncao, Real Madrid and Villarreal.

Sporting CP, who by wearing their Away Kit against Juventus means that they have now worn four different kits in their opening four games. This was also the first time Juventus have worn their Home Kit in this season’s competition.

Galatasaray are another team that made it four kit looks in four games, with them wearing their 3rd Kits at Ajax.

Inter Milan wore their 3rd Kit at Home against Kairat, this was their 3rd different Kit look of the competition

Overall, there have been 13 Clubs that have worn 3 different kit looks in their opening 4 games and 15 Teams that have worn just 2 kits.

My favourite Kit Match of the week was the game between Olympiacos and PSV Eindhoven, a nice balance of kit colours and with the red and white detailing in the PSV kit gives a nice look to their Away Kit.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen the following kits…

  • 22 Home Kits
  • 6 Away Kits
  • 6 3rd Kits
  • 2 “Cup” Kit

There were just three Kit Variations seen this week…

  • Juventus – Home, with alternative white shorts
  • Union Saint-Gilloise – 3rd with yellow (Home) socks

There were 10 new kits this week:

  • Olympiacos – Away
  • Pafos – 3rd
  • Atletico Mardid – Away
  • PSG – 3rd
  • Inter Milan – Away
  • Manchester City – 4th
  • Galatasaray – Home / Away Shorts
  • Bodø/Glimt – Away
  • Ajax – 3rd / Alternative dark blue socks
  • Sporting CP – 4th

Kit Highlights

There are eight teams that have worn three different kits in their opening three games of Champions League – Ajax, Atletico Madrid, Galatasaray, Manchester City, Olympiacos, Pafos, PSG and Sporting CP.

Nine teams have just worn a single kit look in the three games so far – Bayer Leverkusen, Benfica, Chelsea, Copenhagen, Eintracht Frankfurt, Kairat, Moncao, Real Madrid and Villarreal.

This was the Matchweek where we saw the use of 4th Kits for the first time this season, however for two very different reasons..

Manchester City’s 4th Kit is in collaboration with EA SPORTS FC.

Sporting CP’s 4th Kit was a Charity Kit raising awareness for Brest Cancer for Pink October.

Galatasaray wore a nice variation of their Home Kit, which was paired with their white Away shorts.

Juventus are yet to wear their Home Kit in the competition so far this season, having worn their 3rd twice (including once at Home) and Away Kit.

PSG are one of the teams to make it three kits in three games, with their 3rd Kit, which is my favourite of the T90 Nike 3rd Kits this season.

My favourite Kit Match of the week was the game between Chelsea and Ajax, as regular followers will know I do enjoy a contrasting sock colour with a kit look, so both teams going for this was always going to be a match up I enjoyed.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen the following kits…

  • 21 Home Kits
  • 5 Away Kits
  • 6 3rd Kits
  • 2 “Cup” Kit
  • 2 4th Kits

There were just two Kit Variations seen this week…

  • Galatasaray – Home, with white (Away) shorts
  • Ajax – 3rd, with alternative dark blue socks

The revamped Champions League format is now in it’s second season, and this is also the second season we will review the kits worn in each Matchweek, much like the Premier League Kit Reviews.

Round 2 of the fixtures have been completed, with each team now playing home and away, so plenty of new kits on show over the two nights of fixtures.

This gives 107 of the 108 Kits of the 36 Teams, but there will be more thanks to a 4th Kits / Cup Kits that we are likely to see in use over the coming months!

  • Atalanta – Home

  • Atletico Madrid – Home
  • Tottenham Hotspur – Away
  • Galatasaray – Home
  • Liverpool – Away
  • Slavia Prague – 3rd / Home socks
  • Marseille – Home

  • PSV – 3rd / white shorts & socks
  • Borussia Dortmund – Cup Kit
  • Athletic Bilbao – Home / White shorts
  • Manchester City – Away
  • Napoli – Home
  • Sporting CP – Home
  • Juventus – Away

Kit Highlights

As called out by The Football Kit Podcast Galatasaray’s shirt mirrored the shirts worn by the mascots in the pre-game line up.

Slavia Prague wore a “mash up” against Inter Milan, using their Home (white) socks with their 3rd Kit (who’s default socks are pale blue), for an all white look.

Holders PSG are using their current Away Kit for a second season, however this is the first time it has been used in the Champions League, having just worn Home and 4th Kits in victorious campaign last season.

Juventus are the only club not to wear their Home (or Cup) Kit yet in their opening two games, after wearing their 3rd Kit in their Home game last match week, they wore their Away at Villarreal.

There were 11 teams that have worn the same kit (Home or Cup) in the opening two games, meaning over 70% of clubs wore different kits in the two appearances so far.

5 Teams, Athletic Bilbao, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle United, Sporting CP and Union Saint-Gilloise have worn their Home (or Cup) Kit in opening two games in two different variations wearing alternative shorts (and socks in Newcastle’s case) with their Home Kit.

My favourite Kit Match of the week was the game between Borussia Dortmund and Athletic Bilbao, this season’s Cup kit for Dortmund is a simple classic looking kit, paired with Athletic Club wearing alternative white shorts with their Home Kit gave a wonderful looking match up.

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen the following kits…

  • 23 Home Kits
  • 6 Away Kits
  • 5 3rd Kits
  • 2 “Cup” Kit

Kit Variations seen this week…

  • Slavia Prague – 3rd, with Home (white socks)

Champions League 25 / 26: Match 1, Kit Review

The revamped Champions League format is now in it’s second season, and this is also the second season we will review the kits worn in each Matchweek, much like the Premier League Kit Reviews.

And here we go…. just as last season’s competition, the first round of fixtures were played over three days, 16th to 18th September 2025.

This gives 107 of the 108 Kits of the 36 Teams, but there will be more thanks to a 4th Kits / Cup Kits that we are likely to see in use over the coming months!

Total Kits Used

  • Kits Worn in Total – 36

New Kits this Matchweek

As the first week of the Competition, all 36 kits are being used for the first time!

Kit Highlights

Arsenal wore an alternative silver shorts and socks for their game at Athletic Bilbao, not a unique look for the club as it was reminiscent to one worn by the Gunners in 2002 when they visited AS Roma, thanks to our friend Denis at Museum of Jerserys for calling this out.

Juventus wore their new 3rd Kit in their home game against Borussia Dortmund, this also meant the Dortmund (wearing their Cup Kit, which has become the norm for European Games) wore alternative yellow shorts, a look they did not use until the knock phase of the competition last season.

Tottenham Hotspur kicked off their campaign in their traditional European “All White” look, which we are expecting to see in all home games this season in the competition.

Bayern Munich wore their Home Kit in the Champions League for the first since Semi Final of 23 / 24 season, having worn 3rd Kit in majority of their games last season. Given that the home kit of 2023 / 24 season was the white shirt with red sleeves, this is the first time they have been in all red since the 22 / 23 competition, 883 days in total.

Eintracht Frankfurt are one of the teams wearing a “Cup Kit” during this season’s competition with an all black kit acting as their first choice look.

Napoli will not be wearing their wonderful 3rd kit in the Champions League this season (the love for this kit was discussed in the latest Episode of The Football Kit Podcast), instead they have a European Away and 3rd Kits, with the all navy 3rd kit being worn at Manchester City.

My favourite Kit Match of the week was the game between Liverpool and Atletico Madrid, the new Liverpool Adidas Home Kit is really delivering in its look (especially in long sleeve), and one of the best examples of the T90 3rd Kits from Nike on show together, it was always going to be this game!

Kit Stats

Overall we have seen the following kits…

  • 19 Home Kits
  • 4 Away Kits
  • 6 3rd Kits
  • 2 “Cup” Kit

Kit Variations seen this week

  • Union Saint-Gilloise – Home, alternative yellow shorts
  • Arsenal – Away, alternative silver shorts & socks
  • Borussia Dortmund – Cup, alternative yellow shorts
  • Sporting CP – Home, with white shorts

Knock-Out Rounds:

Knock Out Round

This new round of fixtures saw both Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund who just wore the single kit in the League phase in new looks, with Madrid in their Away Kit and Dortmund using alternative yellow shorts with their European Cup Kit.

One of the more interesting Kit used for the first time in this round was AC Milan who wore their 3rd Kit with its alternative socks, which were pink to match some of the detailing within the shirt (sponsor / collar inlet).

Last 16

Feyenoord became the team with the most Kit Variations in this season’s competition when they wore their 6th Kit Look, with Home Kit and alternative white shorts and socks.

There were a couple of other new looks in these fixtures, Arsenal in alternative white shorts with their Away Kit, Inter Milan went all yellow with alternative shorts with their 3rd Kit and Benfica used their 3rd Kit for the first time in the competition.

Quarter Finals

Real Madrid wore their 3rd Kit, one of Adidas Trefoil 3rd Kits for the first time in the competition at Arsenal.

Barcelona wore their only their only alternative kit variation in their quarter final game at Borussia Dortmund, wearing “off white” shorts with their Home Kit for one of the more unusual looks seen by club, but one that goes back into their history with their first ever kits taking this look.

Semi Finals

PSG continued to use their 4th Kit in an away games in the competition, this has been the way through out the knock out rounds (they are the only team to make from the initial knock out rounds) and have used in their final two group games, one home and one away.

Barcelona wore their 3rd Kit for the first time this season in the Champions League.

Final

PSG have only worn blue in the competition this season, wearing their Home Kit 11 times and their 4th Kit 6 times in their 17 games in total, with Inter Milan in their 3rd Kit with alternative shorts for the 2nd time.

Kit Variations:

Below you can find all 116 kits used by the 36 teams in this season’s competition.

Bayern Munich continue to appear to be using their 3rd Kit as the Champions League first choice kit, wearing it for the fourth time against PSG and the for third time in a Home game.

Slovan Bratislava wore their fourth different kit of the competition, after using their registered Home Kit for the first time in the Champions League this season, after previously wearing a special cup kit, away and 3rd kits!

Bologna wore their 3rd Kit at Home against Lille, the 3rd time they have worn the kit this season in the competition but the first time at home!

Although not an actual kit from the game, but as part of the build up to the game between AS Monaco and Benfica this wonderful graphic was created which incorparates the kits worn in the match as F1 Overalls.

Five Teams in total have worn four different kit looks in their opening five games.

My favourite Kit Match of the week was the game between Manchester City and Feyenoord, not only a cracking game on the pitch but the two kits used worked well together and I do enjoy constrasting socks, so both team in this look is a win for me!

AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester City, are teams that have worn four different kit looks in their opening four games….

Levekusen in Away kit at Liverpool (a kit worn by their goalkeeper in the last round of fixtures).

Man City in Home / white socks at Sporting CP!

AC Milan in an alternative look for their Home Kit this season, but remains a classic AC Milan look with black shorts / socks, this also opens up more alternative possibiltes for future fixtures with their default white shorts / socks.

Bayern Munich used their 3rd Kit at Home for a second in this competition, this means they are yet to to wear their Home Kit in their opening 4 games!

12 Team in total have worn three different kit looks in their opening four games.

My favourite Kit Match of the week was the game between Sparta Prague and Brest, Brest another team in an interesting kit mash up, using 3rd shorts with their away kit for a look very much like a “Team USA” kit and paired with the lovely tri-colour kit of Sparta Prague made a good visual match up.

Kit Highlights

Slovan Bratislave wore an unexpected kit, is it a 4th Kit or a Cup Kit, time will tell but it was not expected at Girona.

PSV went for All White look at PSG, wearing alternative white shorts and socks to give the clean overall look at PSG.

AC Milan went for their 3rd Kit at Home against Club Brugge, another look not expected and meant they used Home. Away 3rd Kits in their opening 3 games.

Thanks to @SVBJude04 who shared that Bayer Leverkusen Goalkeeper Matěj Kovář who wore the Leverkusen Away Kit, with the team in their 3rd Kit at Brest, they went with outfield change kit as their choice for evening… something we are certainly behind in Kit Geek Towers.

11 Team in total have worn three different kit looks in their opening three games.

There 7 seven teams that have worn Home, Away, 3rd Kits are AC Milan, Feyenoord, Lille, PSV, Red Star Belgrade, Shakhtar Donetsk and Sporting CP.

Manchester City and Slovan Bratislava have worn three different kits, with 4th / Cup Kits being used.

Bayer Levekusen and Sparta Prague have both worn their 3rd Kits in two different variations to give their three different looks.

My favourite Kit Match of the week was the game between Juventus and Stuttgart, there were plenty of nice kit match ups on show this week but this one was my favourite, Juventus appear to be using white shorts / socks in Europe this season and paired with a classic looking Stuttgart Away kit gave us a nice balance in their game!

Kit Stats

Overall this Matchweek we have seen the following kits…

  • 18 Home Kits

Kit Highlights

Stuttgart followed a tradition we often see with German teams in Europe and used a dedicated European Kit for the first time, with gold details and paired with red socks (different from their Away Kit socks).

On Tuesday 1st October, out of the 18 teams that played 7 in total wore the same kit as in Match 1, with 6 teams playing against each other, with RB Salzburg v Brest, Arsenal v PSG and Borussia Dortmund v Celtic, the only other team that wore the same kit was Inter Milan!

Slovan Bratislava wore their 3rd Kit at Home against Manchester City, who also wore their 3rd Kit so the rare sight of a 3rd Kit v 3rd Kit match up!

BSC Young Boys wore a change kit in The Champions League for the first time since 8th December 2021 when they played Manchester United, they used their all white Away against Barcelona on Tuesday 1st October.

Bayern Munich have yet to wear their Home Kit in the competition, having worn 3rd Kit in first game and now Away kit at Aston Villa.

Bologna launched their 3rd Kit on Monday and debuted it in their game against Liverpool.

One of the Kits of the season, Juventus’ 3rd Kit was used for “The Old Lady’s” visit to RB Leipzig, the second of the possible four Trefiol Kits to used in the Competition, and it looks great in action.

My favourite Kit Match of the week was the game between PSV and Sporting CB, a classic look for PSV Eindhoven and the Sporting Kit being something a little different produced a nice Kit Match up with a real European feel… loved it!
